Permanent or Temporary Visa for Family Reunification

May apply for this visa at this Consulate General, taking into account the right to family reunification, those who are resident in our jurisdiction (see the following link) and are also:

a) Parents, spouses or children of nationals of Argentina.

b) Parents, spouses and unmarried children under 18 not emancipated or children over 18 years with disbilities, of a permanent or temporary resident of Argentina.

REQUIREMENTS:

I. APPOINTMENT:

Make an appointment with 45 days prior to the trip to Argentina. For this you can send an e-mail to this Consulate General (see the following link). This visa require that the applicant shows up at this Consulate the date of the appointment.

It is mandatoty that the applicant sends us -via prepaid envelope/courier slip- or come personally with the documents required mentioned below, with no less than 15 days prior of the date of the appointment, so that we can process this visa.

II. DOCUMENTS:

1.  English speaking Applicants must submit the Form by following the instructions in English (See Form and Instructions), including address and phone numbers.

2. Letter requesting the visa for his or her relatives, made by the relative of the visa applicant with Argentina citizenship or permanent or temporary residence in Argentina. Also original DNI and passport of the above mentioned relative of the applicant.

3. Documents proving that the Argentine citizen or the permanent or temporary resident of Argentina lives in Argentina or that he is traveling to Argentina with the visa applicant of the permanent or temporary residency.

4. Certified registration of live birth issued by provincial Vital Statistics Office (long form) authenticated by the Department of Authentication of the "DFAIT" (click here). This document must be translated into Spanish.

Note: If the visa applicant was born in Canada but outside our jurisdiction, this document must be legalized by the Consulate in Montreal; if born outside Canada, the applicant must send his/her birth certificate to be legalized by the Consulate or Argentine Embassy in the Province/Country of birth, or get the Apostille Stamp at the Foreign Affairs Ministry or correspondent authority if the Country is part of the "Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents" (click here).

5. Argentine or foreign certificate of marriage (if applicable). If the certificate of marriage is from our jurisdiction it must be authenticated by "DFAIT" (click here). This document must be translated into Spanish.

Note: If the visa applicant was married in Canada but outside our jurisdiction, this document must be legalized by the Consulate in Montreal; if married outside of Canada, the applicant must send his/her marriage certificate to be legalized by the Consulate or Argentine Embassy in the Province/Country of marriage, or get the Apostille Stamp at the Foreign Affairs Ministry or correspondent authority if the Country is part of the "Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents" (click here).

6. Police Record Certicate (only for foreigners with 16 years of age or older): In Canada you must request the "Certified Criminal Record Check" form the RCMP (please visit the following link), then that certificate must be autenticated by the Department of Authentication of the DFAIT in Ottawa (click here). Also, if you have lived for at least un (1) year in another country during the last three (3) years, you must submit to this Consulate General the Police record certificates of those countries, duly legalized by the corresponding Argentine Consulate or with the Apostille. This documents must be translated into Spanish.

7. Sworn Declaration of lacking police records and/or penalties of national or international nature (link). This documents will be signed the day of the apointment at this Consulate General.

8. Two (2) recent identical colour photographs, sized 4x4 cm or 1.5 x 1.5 inches, plain white background, full face, front view and open eyes, make sure photo presents full head from top of hair to shoulders (not include sunglasses or hats)

9. Valid passport of the visa applicant for at least the next twelve months.

10. Documents proving that the applicant is a resident in our jurisdiction.

III. CONSULAR FEES:

The consular fees are payable to the "Consulate General of Argentina", by means of money order or certified cheque. Check out here. There are two fees: one for the visa and the other for the migratory bag.

IV. PROCESSING TIME:

Incomplete applications, without exception, will NOT be accepted for processing.

The visa will be processed and the passport is going to be returned to the applicant the date of the appointment at this Consulate. In addition, we will give him/her 2 envelopes to be taken to Argentina and be submitted one at arrival at Migration Authorities in the Argentine Airport and the second one to the Authorities of the "Registro Nacional de las Personas", where the applicant must apply for his/her DNI for foreigners (visit the following link).
